About Me

Hi, I'm Mickey. I'm an adventurous character. Block Buster told me I was the biggest renter they had, until they shut down. I know my movies and have been watching them for 65 years, ever since my first western reel movie (Hop Along Cassidy). I've watched everything and anything ever since. These are my reviews.

I bought this flick on blue-ray to view at home, and I am glad I did. This is the type of movie I love to see over and over. Battleship was fun with a great soundtrack. AC/DC, Henry Mancini and Creedence Clearwater Revival amongst others gave us songs that fit the scenes played. This film did not play to good reviews when it came out. I sometimes think critics forget films, at times, need to supply one thing only - entertainment. Tipper and I felt that Battleship entertained us well. It came from a video game, so what, it had Rihanna in it, good for her, I personally liked her character. If you like first contact movies this one is as good as the next. As a old guy, I loved that they gave roles to a lot of seniors, tough old birds that can still hold their own, goes a long way with me. You sunk my battleship, are words we have not used for awhile but all remember. The game was fun for it's time and the movie is fun for this time. Tipper gives it 4 paws up.

The Dark knight Rises

"Bruce, I am your father." Just kidding!

I'm still in the U.S. of A. and went to Dark Knight with my granddaughter, her friend and my son in law. Tipper is at home so she will have to wait until the DVD. This movie is long, but the length is inconsequential as it is pure entertainment from start to finish. They may have grabbed bits and pieces from events like the French Revolution but who cares. Forget looking for a message, good vs. evil...yadda ,yadda, yadda and just enjoy the ride. The supporting cast is fantastic bringing back Michael Caine and Gary Oldman, two of my favourite actors. If you have never watched Cain in the original Get Carter, do so. Josheph Gordon-Levit, from Third Rock From the Sun is great as John Blake. Although, as John he turns out to be a bit of a "bird brain." (hint, hint.)

I really enjoyed this movie.  Five paws up!!!

Bourne Legacy

Hi movie fans, I'm down in the U.S. of A. and my psychotic movie going family once again dragged me to the theatre to see the fourth of of one of my favourite trilogies. Tipper has been left back in Medicine Hat . She would of liked this one as it has wolves. I won't tell tipper this but the wolves were really the only problem I had with this movie. This is simply because it would be easier to shove a small tracking devise up the butt of a rabbit than down the throat of a snarling  man-eating wolf. Action, action, action good old stunt ridding action, running through the streets jumping on bikes and cars it moved and maid sense, even without Jason. Aaron Cross, from Hurt Locker, was great as was Donna Murphy from the Mummy. Word of warning - If you are not up on your Bourne re watch before going, plots and characters run parallel and can be somewhat confusing. I'm sure Tipper would give this flick 5 paws up because of the wolves however it will only get 4 paws from me.

Total Recall

Used my senior discount to see a remake of one of my favourite Sci Fi. pics. I expected  some improvement with 24 years between the two. Tipper, my dog, said wait for the DVD but  my family, psychotic movie goers from the US of A, hauled me to the theatre. There I was forced to eat popcorn which I am allergic to and I got a stomach ache from a humongous package of red liquorish. I sat back never to reach Mars.
Was it Blade Runner? No perhaps 5th. Element or I Robot. Oh wait,  it was Total Recall without Mars. Action wasn't bad but the new setting required a new title. Save your money and watch Arnie in the original.
